Recipe Of The Week - Addictive Salt Cabbage

Recipe Of The Week - Addictive Salt Cabbage

If you’ve ever visited a Japanese izakaya, you might’ve tried their irresistible “shio kyabetsu” (salt cabbage)—a cold, salty cabbage salad that’s deceptively simple and seriously craveable. Our version adds a bold twist with Erry’thang Spicy Ginger Sauce, creating a flavor-packed, no-cook side dish you’ll want to eat straight from the bowl.

Perfect for pairing with grilled meats, rice bowls, or even as a snack on its own, this dish is light, refreshing, and only takes 5 minutes to whip up.

Ingredients:

  • ½ head green cabbage, roughly chopped
  • 1½ tbsp Erry’thang Sauce Spicy Ginger
  • ½ tsp sea salt (or to taste)
  • ½ tsp pepper (or to taste)
  • 4 tsp roasted sesame seeds
  • 3 cloves fresh minced garlic
  • Optional: Chopped green onions for garnish

Instructions:

  1. Rinse and roughly chop cabbage into bite-sized pieces. Pat dry with paper towels.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together Spicy Ginger Sauce, sesame seeds, garlic, salt, pepper.
  3. Add cabbage to the bowl and toss well until evenly coated.
  4. Let it chill in the fridge for 5–10 minutes for best flavor (optional).
  5. Garnish with green onions if desired. Serve cold and enjoy!

Why We Love It:
It’s bold, crunchy, low calorie, and super refreshing. Plus, it’s an easy way to add a punch of Asian fusion flavor to any meal. One bite and you’ll see why it’s called yamitsuki—Japanese for “addictive.”
